John 1:1-14:
John’s Gospel is truly sacred ground, with some parts feeling like we’ve entered the Holy of Holies. He begins with one of the most profound passages ever written, where we learn that the Eternal Word (logos), who was with God and who is God, spoke the creation into existence and then entered that creation as a man. This is the foundation for Christianity — that God came in the Flesh. Why did he come? To redeem a people and the entire created order he had made. Why does John tell us these things? That we might believe; that we might become Sons of God; that we might have eternal life.
